Whether you are an armchair historian or an academic, Mr. McNulty captures the essence of American life in the last half of the 20ith century.
I believe any one growing up in the 60's, maturing in the 70's and finding there niche in the 80's will relate to this one man's story.
His knowledge of the local history and of "his turf" is detailed and complete.
I enjoyed the author's take on regional and national politics, but most of all
his understanding of business and economics, especially the intertwining of business and government hit the mark spot on.
I love this book, everyone can related to the growing experiences, but me even more so cause I am from Momence. Kevin is an excellent write and makes the whole story come alive. As a child growing up after the war, it touches my heart strings. I would encourage everyone to read it, especially if you are a baby boomer, its our story.
This is a great book about the author who grew up the 50's/60's and went on to have two very opposite, very successful careers! I think if you are a Baby-Boomer, you'll love reminiscing about childhood and if you were born a bit later as I was, you'll be fascinated by how very different life was! Additionally, he has had not just one successful career, but TWO and he has crossed paths with some pretty interesting people! I highly recommend reading this book!
