As an avid horeswoman I loved the reality of the equine human interaction . The plot was fun and an unusual approach to an equestrian novel. Highly recommend.
Well written. Sucked me right inside the story and I felt the bruises that were endured and the sting of the tears in the well written words.
This was a sweet romance that built slowly - almost excruciatingly slowly (the romance - not the book!) - but it was enjoyable to be along for the ride. Jo and Bart were interesting characters, and the backdrop of the renaissance faires and a sport completely out of time in the modern world, made for a fun read. I look forward to the next in the series. Nicely done, J.D. Harrison.
I absolutely loved this book and am glad that I happened to finish it now that the 2nd book is out! Otherwise the wait would have killed me! Can't wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds!
Love, love, love this novel. It is so refreshing to have been written by a true horsewoman that knows and characterizes different horse behaviors and PROPER training and care. Nice character development etc. This novel grabbed me & I do not want to put it down. Fabulous author. I hope to read more of her work.
A spectacular book about chasing dreams. This wonderful story manages to capture the true partnership of a horse and rider, the magic and chivalry of knighthood and Renaissance Fairs, and sets it in surroundings of poetic detail. A stunning, engrossing book from this new author, and one that will leave you wanting to dive into a sequel.
I downloaded this book because the author is a "friend of a friend," and I expected to read it and give half-hearted "congrats on the book" sorts of comments to the author. However, after reading it, I can wholeheartedly say, "Wow!! When can I read the next one?!"
There were so many elegant and amusing uses of language in the book - not just the gallantry stuff, but vivid imagery such as the "grass-eating typewriter" and "...wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, only no epic song to go with it." I particularly enjoyed learning how a deeply-caring human goes about convincing a horse that she's one of the good guys, through Jo's thoughtful treatment of Ro. The budding romance with Bart rounded out this excellent start to the series.
